  • Social Marketing: Social marketing is the planning and implementation of programs designed to bring about social change using concepts from commercial marketing.
  • Social marketing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: Social marketing is the systematic application of marketing, along with other concepts and techniques, to achieve specific behavioral goals for a social good.[1] Social marketing can be applied to promote merit goods, or to make a society avoid demerit goods and thus to promote society's well being as a whole. For example, this may include asking people not to smoke in public areas, asking them to use seat belts, or prompting to make them follow speed limits.
  • What Is Social Marketing?: The health communications field has been rapidly changing over the past two decades. It has evolved from a one-dimensiona l reliance on public service announcements to a more sophisticated approach which draws from successful techniques used by commercial marketers, termed "social marketing.&quo t; Rather than dictating the way that information is to be conveyed from the top-down, public health professionals are learning to listen to the needs and desires of the target audience themselves, and building the program from there. This focus on the "consumer " involves in-depth research and constant re-evaluation of every aspect of the program. In fact, research and evaluation together form the very cornerstone of the social marketing process.

These businesses adopt principles, policies, and practices that improve the quality of life for their customers, their employees, communities, and the environment.
